DJ Henry C is a Brooklyn-based turntable performance artist dedicated to HipHop genre.  Originating from the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, he spent a number of years as a resident artist and youth counselor arranging original musical scores in the New World Theater social change production “Project 2050.”  Early in his career, he established the Fifth Productions DJs and managed a turntable DJ crew specializing in old and new school hip hop, reggae, and R&B.  He co-founded the Hip Hop Collective, a community arts show production, organized La Femme Expression and Bridgin’ da Gap, and coordinated shows with prominent recording artists Dead Prez, KRS One, Buke Bad Newz, Kelly Sai, and Why G?  He has also co-hosted his own radio show, “The 5th Pro Show,” on WMUA 91.1 FM, served as a guest lecturer on hip hop culture, and taught turntable scratch workshops on behalf of various community organizations.

His love of music has also given him the opportunity to become involved in a diverse roster of theatrical productions.  Notably, he collaborated with Bessie Award winning choreographer, Jorge “Pop Master Fable” Pabon, Quick Step, Abu Nurah, 2050, as well as with the Decadancetheater international female dance crew and VJ Holly Daggers in a fusion of old school HipHop with 3D technology at the Joyce Theater in SoHo.  He even made his acting debut in “Dreamscape,” an innovative blend of HipHop spiritual theater written by award winning playwright Rickerby Hinds and performed at the University of California-Riverside CALI-FEST HipHop Theater.

His performance highlights as a DJ include the “Video Trapped the Rapper Tour 2006,” an 8-week, 22-state nationwide HipHop festival featuring legendary artists Tableek of MassPyke, Sadat X of the rap group Brand Nubian, Percee P, Eratic Static, and Doujah Raze.  He was the DJ on the Ecstatic Tour with Mos Def and Whosane on Governor’s Island, is active in community-based events, and prepares mixes for various public productions.  In addition to all this, Henry C has been a DJ for the internet-based Uranium TV and appeared locally at the 2012 Grammy Telecast Party at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club, the Nuyorican Poets Café, Club Hiro, Good World, Hope Lounge, Kush Lounge, the Sputnik, the Bowery Poetry Café, the Wreck Room, and private events around the city.
